Be Your Own Compass
You have a plan for your life. You’ve set goals, and you can see exactly where you want to go. But along the way, there will be diversions. Every once in a while, allow yourself to peek down a different path. You may discover something extraordinary, or more of the same. By pausing to choose your direction, you’ll learn more about your true self, strength and desires. This world is yours. Where you travel next is up to you.
~SELF, A moment for yourself.
Today my dad and I completed our first 20-miler, not only of Atlantic City Marathon Training but of the entire year.
Stats
20 miles
3:06:24 hours
9:19 average pace
I won’t bore you with all of the splits but I will tell you that every last mile was in the 9 minute range. As you’ll see in the weekly update, I took a FIT class at the gym on Tuesday and work up Wednesday incredibly sore. I managed to squeeze in a slow 5 miles that day but woke up on Thursday feeling even worse. I usually do feel worse the 2nd day after a hard workout thanks to DOMS and didn’t think too much of it until I work up on Friday morning still sore. Luckily today, I felt much better but my quads were still a bit sore during the beginning of our run. I was definitely afraid I wasn’t going to last the entire 20 miles but I made it!
*Atlantic City Marathon Training Update*
Week 1: 50 miles
Week 2: 54 miles
Week 3: 37 miles
Sunday: 5 @ 8:56
Monday: REST
Tuesday: 3.1 @ 8:45 / FIT
Wednesday: 5.01 @ 9:15
Thursday: .22 miles (tried to run but legs were still sore from Tuesday!)
Friday: 3.1 @ 9:15 (still reallllly sore, starting to get worried the pain is more than soreness…)
Saturday: 20 miles @ 9:19
On the schedule for next week is supposed to be 66 but I am going to have to modify it after this week’s lull in miles.
Tonight we are headed into NYC to celebrate one of my best friend’s engagement! I don’t want a brag or anything, but I totally called this…
More wedding pics to come soon! But for now…it’s time for a nap!

You are really putting in some great mileage! Keep it up! More wedding pictures please!
Way to go on your mileage
. I ran my first 10 miler of my half training and of the year today. But definitely not as fast as your 20, you are so speedy!
Awesome training!! Sorry you were so sore !!
3hours on the road, i would be dead!!! I did get 2 hours on the mountain and 1h45 on the road, but i know I need to get to 2 hours on the road.
If you can keep the training up the mige will pay off and you will be so strong the will kill any races you line up for.
Good luck

YAY for a good 20-mi, I can’t wait to read about you rocking the ACM!
I’m glad you are feeling much better, the FIT classes make training runs tough…but once you taper for the marathon you will be so happy you pushed through that tough run while sore!
I hope you have a great weekend ahead of you!
xoxo!
