B-day 400s

by blueeyedrunner on February 5, 2012

Whatever we are working on, mulling over, avoiding, contemplating facing, or rehearsing in our minds becomes literal. It’s you and the thing and the thing becomes the hill and there you are — taking it on. There is a certain amount of clarity that oxygen deprivation provides. Couple that with pain and you get the inner hum that becomes white noise and suddenly you can think.

Good morning!

We have been getting settled in our new apartment. It is still a bit of a mess, but coming together. Today is my 28th birthday and so, when my dad asked what type of birthday run I would like to do, I knew it was time to hit the track.

Birthday 400s

The Workout: 4 x 400 @ 6:00 pace

Splits: 1:28, 1:28, 1:30, 1:90

Stats: 4 miles, 8:07 pace, 32:30

Although this wasn’t a long speed workout, it felt good to run fast and breathe hard. Yesterday, my dad and I ran 10 miles at an 8:38 pace, so the two workouts back to back were substantial.

Last night, Dan took me to one of my favorite restaurants, The Melting Pot and today we are having brunch and going to my friends superbowl party.

I officially joined (just about) everyone else and upgraded from blackberry to iphone thanks to Dan getting me the 4s for my birthday : ) And I can’t wait to share the gifts my parents got with you. I’ll save that for another post. Of course, they are running-related.

Off to brunch. Have a fabulous weekend and…

GO GIANTS!
