A Quiet Mind
We talk about the time we spend sitting, thinking and breathing in a guilty way, as if the absence of action implies a lack of accomplishment. But doing nothing is doing something. By emptying your head of your usual to-dos, you create space for new ideas and experiences. Your mission this month: Be still. You’ll build the launch pad for your next adventure.~SELF Magazine (A moment for yourself)
I’m sorry I have been slow on getting the race report up. It is all written and ready, and will be posted tomorrow morning.
Since I had off from work the entire week before the marathon, I actually made it to race day healthy! This is the first time this has ever happened before a marathon. I was sure I would be paying for this by getting sick immediately following the marathon, but {knock on woodk} so far, so good.
I was excited to run a normal last week of taper and here is what that week looked like:
Sunday: Cancelled Race {due to storm}
Monday: 4 miles + Gym
Tuesday: 3 miler + Vinyasa Yoga
Wednesday: 5 miles easy
Thursday: Mat Pilates
Friday: REST (Expo)
Saturday: 2 miles easy
Total: 14 miles
I was excited to be able to run some of the nervous energy out of my legs the day before the race. My dad and I ran together early, then I went home and didn’t know what to do with myself for the rest of the day…
So, I started bedazzling. I decorated a plain, black zip-up I had.
Then I decided to make a shirt to wear in the race.
I ran out of E’s but I think the pink one looks cute…
Race Day Morning
I debated wearing my name on the front of my shirt, but decided to go with it and it was definitely a good decision for this race. I decided to add some touches of purple to match my shoes (New Balance 890′s)
Race report tomorrow. Promise.
*Do you like to wear your name in a race?
I have never done it before but it was fun!
