Races always evoke some dread about pain that will come. But we can’t escape the fact that the more discomfort we accept in a race, the faster we will run. Successful racing means courting the pain.

Hi Guys!
This afternoon, my dad and finally made it to the track for some SPEED WORK! As you may know…the track is my favorite and it felt good to be back
I decided since I was there, I might as well go for it…
The Workout: 3 x 1600 (w/ 400 meter walk in between each)
*1 mile warm up
*Splits: 5:52, 6:10, 6:19
*Cool down.
I didn’t know what pace to shoot for, but I knew my goal for this workout was to run them all at a 6:00 min pace. Obviously I went out too fast, but I think that goal time is somewhat realistic for me. Apparently I need to learn to pace myself again. It was also 5pm and 85 degrees when we were out there so I am a happy runner
My dad said I look too happy post-track in this picture…
He doesn’t like the track as much as I do…
When I got home, Dan had a present for me!
Cooper approves. He said he got them as a thank you for all I do around the apartment. He is the best. He said he was going to fasten a fake ring to them but there weren’t any laces. **The last time he got me shoes, this happened**

DANG GIRL! Great job on the mile splits!
I have never done a track workout but I am definitely interested. Those are some great splits!
Sooo fast! I don’t know that I could break 6 min anymore! Wow! And what a fun gift to get!
Nice splits! Your pacing definitely needs some work:)
Your boyfriend, ops, fiancĂ©, is the best!!! I wish everyone found someone that great. My last date tried to drag me (literally!) to his bed and then left me in Canada in the middle of the night one week later:) His plan did not work though, I’m still alive and back in the States:)
WOW awesome speed run!! I love the track too
And I’m so jealous of your spin shoes!! I want a pair sooo bad!!
Awesome splits Keri!! And in 85 degree weather?? Yowza that is amazing.
Love the shoes!
Wow, those are some fast mile repeats! Nice job! I’d be curious to know how fast you could run 1 mile right now all out, wouldn’t surprise me if you could get somewhere around 5:30 or something…(not sure if you want to try this though, haha)
Good lord. I can’t imagine running a 5:52 in a workout! I know it was uneven, but impressive, speedy girl!
Breaking 6:00 — nice job! I’m impressed.
It’s hot and steamy in Philly too. Welcome to summer running
Great splits girl, you’re so fast!! I mean’t to comment a few posts ago, but I’m really loving the quotes you put at the top of your blog postings.
