Hilly, Long Run, Racing and Bon Jovi

by blueeyedrunner on March 6, 2011

Happy Weekend :)
Yesterday morning my dad and I completed a hilly 10-miler on a beautiful 50+ degree run! Spring is coming!

My watch died right after mile 4 so I took this from my dad’s garmin stats:

Oakridge Elevation

I don’t know what my exact pace was but it was slow. This route is one of my favorites and its great practice for running hills: both up and down them!

After the run I iced, showered, and Dan and I bought some sandwiches and took Coop to the park for a nice long walk.

Then we rested up for the BON JOVI concert at Madison Square Garden!

They were so good and Dan got us fantastic seats! He was a good sport since Bon Jovi isn’t really his thing but he really had a good time. They played many of my favorites: Bed of Roses, I’ll be there for you, Bad Name, Living on a Prayer, Runaway, etc. He really knows how to put on a show!

We got home late and Dan pointed out that I was up past midnight on both Friday and Saturday night this weekend. This is unusual for me :)

Also, since the 20k I was planning to run has been canceled, I made some changes to my racing schedule. I had to be careful not to plan too much before Boston (*or expect too much after Boston*) but here is what I have added:

*March 12- Morristown 5K
*March 27- Millburn Spring Run (10K)

Then I will take it easy until Boston. I am not going to race them, but rather choose a pace and try to stick with it (likely 6:30 for the 5k and 6:45 for the 10k).

Have a nice Sunday. I’m finishing breakfast then its off to Pilates and brunch!
