Since I passed out on Friday night at 9pm (*yes on a Friday, but I was up at 4:45 that morning!) I work up this morning bright and early at 6am. What is wrong with me?? I used to be able to sleep in until at least 8 on a weekend, but not lately. It is kind of nice because I have been getting a ton of things done. Of course with my early start on a beautiful Saturday, I went to the gym. I really wanted to spin and they offered classes every hour all morning but I knew I had been neglecting my strength training so opted for my own workout:
Saturday Workout:
30 minutes cardio
~20 min stair climber (Level 10-12)
~10 min treadmill worked up to level 10 incline at a 4.5 pace
Strength Training: Back, Chest, and Tri’s
My chest is still a bit sore…
To cool down after my workout I rode my bike while my dad ran a quick 5 mile tempo run (mostly flat roads). I have accepted the fact that I need to cross train and spend more time in the gym but nothing beats the fresh air of an outdoor run (or bike ride).
Sunday it was back to Spin Class.
!This teacher was amazing. I had taken her before my newly found spin obsession but now I can appreciate her so much more! Definitely the most difficult spin class in awhile and I loved it. She did these strength exercises in which we stayed in the saddle and peddled with significant resistance then stood up and performed an explosive sprint with the same resistance. We repeated this exercise throughout the class. It was tough but a great exercise build strength and teach the muscles to go fast when they are tired. I hope this exercise helps me maintain some of my strength and speed for when I am able to go back to running!
Yesterday was Dan’s Birthday; he turned 27. While I wasn’t much of a party animal on Friday night, we spent the rest of the weekend celebrating. On Saturday, Dan’s parents came up and we all went out to dinner. We went to one of my favorite restaurants (ironically enough, a steak house, even though I’m not much of a steak eater) and the food was amazing. I ordered pan seared tuna, my favorite. For his birthday, Dan’s parents are generously paying for our Boston hotel in April. Remember the Boston Fund? It is suddenly looking a lot fuller
On Sunday, some friends came over for a mini football party. I was a bad girlfriend/blogger and didn’t take many pictures
I did manage to snap this one:
I had way too much fun putting this together…
…and we had a football cake and everything. After the festivities, Coop was as pooped as I was:
Enjoy your Monday.
