Training Plan Schedule
Week 2

Actual Runs

Sunday: Pine Beach 5k
Monday: 6 miles @ 8:47
Tuesday: Pilates Reformer
Wednesday: 7 mile Tempo Run (as described on plan!)
Thursday: OFF
Friday: 7 miles @ 8:25
Saturday: OFF
Total Miles: 25 (including warm up and cool down from race)
Gym: Just Pilates this week and some exercising at home.

We didn’t get the long run in this week because I had some pain in my right glute :( I didn’t do any type of exercise on Thursday and when I got to work on Friday I had felt a bit of pain. It wasn’t anything too crazy and I figure it couldn’t be too bad since I didn’t do anything the day before, however, when we set out on our run I felt the pain, mostly when running up hill (when the glutes activate). We cut the run short at 7 and I took Saturday off but did an 8 mile run on Sunday to keep up with the mileage. Although the two runs technically occurred in two separate weeks and I’m not counting it as a long run, I hope to keep up with my schedule and complete the 17 mile long run this week. The pain has since gone away but I have been icing it and giving it extra rest just to be sure.

Here is what week 3 should look like:

Training Plan Schedule
Week 3

Scheduling is getting becoming difficult and I am already off the training schedule which drives me crazy! I am trying to be smart and do what is best for my body both in terms of injury as well as the weather. New Jersey, along with many other parts of the country, and much of North America for that matter, has been experiencing a brutal heat wave these past couple of days. It does not look like it is going away any time soon unfortunately! I am going to try to get these runs done either in the morning or in the evening depending on my schedule for the week. I am also running a race on Saturday so that will have to be factored in as well. It is a 5 mile race that I should be able to do in less than 7:44 so the race may become the tempo run with the addition of a mile warm up and cool down. I have no idea when I am going to be able to fit that long one in!
