I found this picture on the runners world site. It is from the “Rave Run” section of the magazine. I know it may seem a bit premature to post this picture but I found it so inspirational I could not resist. Enjoy!

Yesterday Dad and I ran the Jersey City 1/2 marathon in the pouring rain. I think that was the rainiest race we’ve ever run. I missed qualifying for the New York marathon by 10 seconds. 10 seconds!! I blame the rain. My time was 138:10. (7:30 pace) All in all the race was fun but it was definitely a reality check for Philly. I have come to the realization that I am seriously going to have to step up my game if I am going to qualify for Boston. Apparently long distances are not my best running events. Give me a 5K any day. I have to work so much harder to run the long distances at a competitive pace. I will do it though, someday. If I can take 8 minutes off my 5K time then I’m sure I can shave a few off of a longer distance.
I had off of work today for the Jewish holiday. Since I am supposed to be recovering, I was unable to run, but I was able to go to the gym! I love the gym on Monday mornings. They have the best classes and its pretty quiet. This morning I took barbell strength and Pilates. So much for a recovery day. Oh well…maybe next time.

I am reading a new book…”The Runner’s Guide to the Meaning of Life” by Amby Burfoot, Boston marathon winner, and long time writer for Runner’s World mag. It is exactly like a book that I would write. Inspirational, reflective, and a bit obsessive…it is perfect. I am running a 5K race tomorrow and then going for a 20 mile training run on Sunday. Resting up tonight for a long weekend of running. Even though it rained today it was till hard to take off. I am going a bit stir crazy. Wish me luck!

I am supposed to take off from running today. I have been up for a few hours and I am already going stir crazy without my run! I feel so productive when I run and today I am crawling out of my skin. I do not know what to do with myself. I know I am supposed to rest my legs and recover. That it is better to have fresh legs and without rest my running will suffer but it is so hard to not run! Running makes things feel better. It helps me clear my head and without it I am a mess!

I am loving this fall weather. It is not too hot, but not yet cold, the perfect sweatshirt weather. I used to be more of a summer girl but it has been impossible to run in the 95 degree hot and humid weather…the autumn weather is much more comfortable for running and at night. I have been sleeping a million times better since the heat wave subsided, not to mention saving money on the electric bill. I love the nostalgic feeling of going back to school and the buzz surrounding it that accompanies this time of year.
